This summer's festival has begun for the town of Fuefuki, Japan. You rest your legs at the local shrine on the way back from the store and listen to the fireworks lighting up the hillside. Though lighter than you'd expect for today, the wind stirs up the few emas strung up the building's display, carrying with it the scent of a nearby grill. These people have broken their backs to float as quiet a life as they could muster, but the town will surely be painted jovial for a few days.
