The unsteady crew ruminates over what lies ashore. Winter has borne thick fog and an unprecedented snap freeze that has ruined crops and stirred crowds into mobs that shrank to nothing upon dusk. This mystery, doubtlessly perilous, will not answer itself, but there will be still a trail left under all that frost, by that lighthouse, waiting to be uncovered... Or perhaps it has grown tired of waiting and uncovered itself.
