Weary and homesick after endless travel, your aching feet stagger down a muddy path towards a mysterious glen. The tall sweet-smelling grass parts, and you spy a trail of large uneven stepping-stones. They lead past a pond, up a small hill, to an even smaller yet cozy little home; made of mossy stone and brick that has stood here for ages. An untamed garden full of honeysuckle bushes rustles nearby, and a tempting smell of bubbling cook pots wafts out from the open shutters. Along your footsteps carry you, until startled, you catch sight of her, bending among the herb bushes- The fabled witch of the wood! Her creased eyes twinkle with merry warm familiarity: she knew you'd drop by. Smiling wryly, she clucks her tongue at the state you're in; smears the dirt off her coated palms onto her apron, straightens up & totters back the way she came. The front door swings opens of its own accord. "Well, come 'long now," she grunts. You breathe a sigh of relief: A safe place to rest at last!

● You enter the cottage and sit down at the simple wooden table beside the witch's cauldron. The door closes as it opened, on its own, and the lock softly latches. You watch the witch as she stirs her pot. It seems to be missing an important ingredient. Lucky for the witch, you happened along.
