The Forest Breathing

We all know the word rainforest. There is however no such thing as a windforest. Yet anyone who has spent time in the woods knows how much wind defines its sound...

In many of my soundscapes, I remove small sounds such as branch creaks or trees that softly groan in the wind. These details can distract the ear, even if they prove that the recording is real. This time, I chose to keep them. Those subtle noises are part of how a forest breathes.

When you combine several sliders, these details become masked by the other wind sounds playing together. What remains is a smooth and steady ambience, very close to brown, pink, or white noise, depending on the slider positions, but with a clearly organic texture.

The recordings come from long, unattended sessions. I leave my recorders running for a full night (nights are quieter) then later isolate moments where the wind becomes expressive, sometimes joined by rain. Most recordings used in the soundscape, were made in Quebec, Canada.

 Social Media

I am leaving social media. What once connected us has become a hollow space governed by greedy algorithms. Even my followers no longer see my posts! My newsletter is different: it delivers messages directly from me to you. And if you reply, I read it and answer. Plus, by subscribing, you show your love for the project and help keep me motivated to create new soundscapes.

Nature sounds are recorded in the field, and musical soundscapes are composed by musicians. Generative AI is never used to create myNoise soundscapes. Learn more here.
