A Familiar Yet Fresh Auditory Experience

For many years, the Irish Coast soundscape has been a sonic sanctuary for many visitors seeking a peaceful escape. Whether they need to focus, improve their sleep, or find calm in noisy or stressful environment, this soundscape has become a daily companion for them. Released a decade ago, when myNoise was just beginning, it has consistently been the most popular choice in our Natural Soundscapes section.

During our recent trip to Iceland, Rémy and I ventured to the stunning black sand beaches near Vík to capture new sounds for myNoise. As we stood there, we wondered if we could create an Icelandic version of our beloved Irish Coast soundscape. That idea came as a personal challenge for me too: could I surpass what I created ten years ago? Over the years, I've become more attentive to subtle details, and my recording equipment has improved too, especially with the use of superior microphones.

So here we are, with Icelandic Shore. It's a fresh experience for those who know Irish Coast inside out and are eager to explore a new auditory landscape. While it offers a different vibe, it's not so different that it feels unfamiliar. So, if you're used to Irish Coast, your brain will easily tune into the Icelandic version as well.

So, with all the experience and equipment upgrades, has myNoise truly improved? In my opinion, Irish Coast still sounds surprisingly great and stands up well even when compared to Icelandic Shore. Which leaves me with two possibilities: either I’m not improving as much as I thought… or maybe, just maybe, I was already doing it right from the start. You be the judge.
