From the Land of the Ticos

Our sound journey around the world continues, thanks to the generous support of myNoise fans. This time, with recordings from Marcelo (Argentina) and Philippe (Quebec), who both captured sounds during their trips to Costa Rica, we travel to a small country blessed with an extraordinarily rich natural voice.

Marcelo provided recordings of countless small creatures hidden in the green, howler monkeys, and the sound of rain falling on a tarp. Philippe contributed background rain and thunder. My job was to balance and EQ everything so it worked as a coherent whole and covered the entire audible spectrum in a smooth, natural way.

The result is Ticolandia: “Tico” being the affectionate word for Costa Ricans. It's versatile soundscape that works both as a natural noise blocker and as an invitation to escape. It offers a peaceful density of life, while the rain makes everything feel calmer.
